Picture this: you have just won Wimbledon. Or a major league pennant. Or the Superbowl. Or heck, even your local bowling tournament. What do you do next? Go to Disneyland, of course! (Well, at least if you believe the conventional wisdom of Disney commercials.)

But now there’s even more reason to visit this famous entertainment park and quintessentially American vacation spot. This summer, the Disneyland Resort in California is introducing many new shows and rides with what it’s calling the “Disney Soundsational Summer,” a season that promises to be chock full of sensory surprises. Whether you’ve been to Disneyland before or arrive as a fresh newcomer, there are plenty of laughs and thrills to experience: from Mickey’s Soundsational Parade and Star Tours: The Adventures Continue at Disneyland Park, to The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Undersea Adventure and Goofy’s Sky School at Disney California Adventure Park, there’s something for kids of all ages. (And, apparently, even for Jedi lords who have gone to the Dark Side. See the video below.)

Star Tours: The Adventure Continues
The simulator ride Star Tours is a must-see, having reopened for the summer after a year-long “re-imagining.” Visitors can experience the Starspeeder 1000 flight motion simulator vehicle, whose digital 3-D video will take you to different parts of the galaxy with C-3PO as your pilot. As you glide among the trees with Wookiees on Kashyyyk, participate in a pod race on Tatooine, dive into the lakes of Naboo, blast through the blizzards of Hoth, or even help attack the Death Star, you will meet characters like R2-D2, Princess Leia, Yoda, and Chewbacca. (We’re sure even Lord Vader would approve.)

Mickey’s Soundsational Parade
Fans of the television show Glee will be thrilled with the new spin Disney has added to its daily ritual on Main Street U.S.A. with Mickey’s Soundsational Parade. The song-and-dance street party, featuring floats, dancers, and vocal arrangments by Glee vocal director Tim Davis, will also incorporate regional and cultural musical styles interpreted through some of its most popular movie characters: experience New Orleans jazz with Princess Tiana from The Princess and the Frog, infectious Caribbean beats with mermaid Ariel and her undersea friends, Mickey Mouse’s syncopated drum line, as well as Bollywood, Gospel, and Latin rhythms. We dare you not to dance!

The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Undersea Adventure & Goofy’s Flying School
At Disney’s California Adventure Park (right next door to Disneyland), The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Undersea Adventure has just opened for the summer, an omnimover ride that’s perfect for the whole family. As you sit inside a giant clam shell with Audio Animatronics characters like Ariel, Prince Eric, Sebastian, Flounder, Scuttle, and Ursula singing all of your favorite songs from The Little Mermaid, the colorful moving underwater scene creates an amazing motion picture effect. Also at California Adventure, Goofy will show you his hair-raising flying tactics on the thrilling new rollercoaster, Goofy’s Flying School. Once you board your flight training vehicle there is no turning back; his breakneck speed and sudden turns and loops will set your heart racing!
